Why is there a United Way of Portage County?

- To provide free-of-charge information and referral services to all Portage County residents. United Way’s 211 Portageinformation and referral service, connects families and individuals in Portage County with community resources and volunteer opportunities
How United Way of Portage County Makes It Possible
United Way of Portage County partners with local agencies (also known as non-profits, not-for-profits, charities) who, in turn, provide services in the areas of health, education and income to Portage County residents. These agencies receive funding from other sources in addition to United Way of Portage County to make these services a reality.

Governed by local volunteers devoted to our community, the United Way of Portage County Board of Directors is legally and morally responsible for all activities of the organization. The Board upholds the highest level of integrity and community leadership.
Additionally, trained volunteers review agency programs to assure each donor’s gift impacts the community and population where it is needed most. United Way makes sure your gift supports programs that have proven they are making a difference in Portage County, making United Way the most effective avenue to help the most people.
