2009 Days of Caring

Days of Caring projects are coordinated by United Way staff and allow businesses that are United Way supporters with a glimpse of how the organization’s partner programs and agencies operate. The annual event starts with requests from local agencies that outline various tasks that need completed at the site. Requests are then routed to employees at businesses whom agree to volunteer for a half of a day to complete the projects.

This year, participants cleaned, painted, raked, planted grass, spread mulch, stocked groceries at food pantries, served lunch at hot meal sites, and helped seniors as part of the event.

Programs receiving a helping hand during Days of Caring included: the American Red Cross, Center of Hope, Coleman Adult Day Services, Community Legal Aid Services, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, Kent Social Services, Portage Learning Centers, Mobile Meals, and Townhall II.

Employees of Portage County-based businesses rolled up their sleeves and pitched in to assist local social service agencies with a variety of projects during United Way of Portage County’s 16th Annual Days of Caring.  Employees of the following companies participated in the event: Ametek Electromechanical Group; Cutler Real Estate of Kent, Deluxe Corporation; Edge Entertainment, Portage Community Bank; Robinson Memorial Hospital, and Step 2 Corporation.

Thanks to all of the volunteers for doing such a great job!!
